Encounters with Further and Higher Education

Our careers programme is designed to ensure that all students understand the full range of learning opportunities that are available to them. This includes both academic and vocational routes and learning in schools, colleges, universities and in the workplace.

Summer 2026

This term, our students have been working hard towards achieving their Bronze Certificate as part of the Children’s University scheme. To earn this award, they completed a number 30 of hours of enrichment activities beyond the curriculum. These included attending before-school clubs, participating in educational visits and school trips, and independently taking part in clubs and activities outside of school. Through our enrichment programme, we encourage a love of learning by promoting creativity, personal wellbeing, and participating in physical activity. The Bronze Certificate recognises the commitment, enthusiasm and dedication shown by our students as they engage in opportunities that help them develop new skills, interests, and experiences beyond the classroom. 

We were delighted to attend the graduation ceremony at Rochdale Town Hall to celebrate the success of those students who achieved the 30 hours. Even more of an achievement was that they gained them in just one term! To see how proud they were receiving their certificates was a joy to watch and we look forward to continuing working towards our silver certificates next academic year.

This was an outstanding accomplishment, made even more impressive by the fact that they achieved their hours within just one term. It was wonderful to see how proud the students were as they received their certificates and celebrated their success alongside their peers. Their dedication, commitment, and enthusiasm for taking part in a wide range of enrichment activities truly paid off. We are incredibly proud of their achievements and look forward to supporting them as they continue their enrichment journey and work towards achieving their Silver Certificates next academic year. 

Children's University

Thursday 22nd January 2026 at Rochdale Town Hall

Year 9 had an engaging day at the “Creativity in Careers” event. They had the opportunity to visit a range of stalls and speak to local professionals who work in creative fields. They were extremely mature and asked a range of informative questions to get a broader understanding of careers available to them.
